HomeMy WebLinkAboutAdministrative Commander Job Description 04 2025CITY OF MONROE JOB DESCRIPTION ADMINISTRATIVE COMMANDER Position Summary: Plans, organizes and administers Police Department operations including crime prevention, investigation and law enforcement services. Reports to: Director of Public Safety Supervises: Administrative Lieutenant, Records Department, and Property Cadet Revised: March 2025 Essential Job Functions: Under the general direction of the Director of Public Safety, directs the operations of the Public Safety Records Bureau, recruitment and retention of Public Safety Employees, fleet management and administrative functions. Supervisors the Records Department Supervisor and in their absence supervisors Records Department personnel directly. Responsible for evaluations of Records Department personnel and Evaluates the Records Department supervisor according to policy. Ensures compliance with state and federal laws concerning records retention. • Public Safety Records Bureau • Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) • LEIN Auditing • Grant coordinator for the MPSD • Scheduling systems (Police and Fire) • Operating systems (Police and Fire) • Forfeiture Auditing • All other records management (Police and Fire) • Overall responsibility for Police & Fire Records Management System (RMS) • Evidence Control and Property management • Disposition of forfeited property • Comprehensive Public Safety Department oversight of all Management Systems • Employee recruitment and hiring. • Maintains contacts and participation in regional groups: Law Enforcement & Fire Agencies • Labor Relations • Fleet Management Police and assists with Fire Fleet management. • Grant Manager and Coordinator (works with Fire Commander) • Duties of a Public Information Officer as called upon. • Responsible for the policy and procedures for the police and standard operating guidelines (SOGs) for fire. Will oversee the accreditation manager (Administrative Lieutenant) to ensure our compliance with being accredited. Performs additional duties at the direction of the administration. April 2025
