JOB DESCRIPTION
ADMINISTRATIVE LIEUTENANT
Reports to: Administrative Commander
Supervises: Records personnel, Community Services Officer, MPSD Cadets, and Police
Shift personnel as necessary.
Position Summary: Oversees daily operations of the MPSD Records Bureau, Plans,
organizes and administers community events and activities, which promote the Public
Safety Department. This position also educates the citizens of the City of Monroe
concerning general matters of public safety. Additional function is to include responsibility
for the professional accreditation of the department, while establishing best practices,
policies, procedures and guidelines.
Essential Job Functions, Responsibilities and Duties:
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential

expected to perform. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential function satisfactorily.
• Oversees the administrative and clerical work of the records management function
of the Monroe Public Safety Department (MPSD).
• The review and approval of LCC licenses.
Community Service essential job functions.
• Provides direct supervision of the assigned Community Officer, including
scheduling, event participation and oversight of social media posts.
• Assists with the oversight and planning of social media for both Police and Fire at
the direction of the Administrative Commander. This shall include the organization
School, etc.).
• May be called upon to post press releases, important information or alerts
concerning police/fire activity, special events and notifications to alert citizens of
occurring situations.
• Acts as an ambassador or liaison to the community, by appearing at and/or
organizing the attendance of public safety employees at community events.
• Reviews submitted plans for events scheduled within the City of Monroe, rendering
recommendations regarding the approval or denial of these events. This position
may also provide recommendations concerning staffing, equipment and safety at
these events. Ultimate approval for all City of Monroe events are at the discretion
of the Director of Public Safety.
• Responsible for scheduling Public Safety employees at events, where staffing is
necessary. Responsible for briefing and informing staff of their respective
assignment and duties at events.
• Makes recommendations on the purchasing of departmental promotional
merchandise, which may be distributed at departmental approved events.
• Responsible for maintaining event equipment and supply items (canopies, table
clothes, promotional merchandise, etc.).
• Oversight of the bicycle program for the department, to include addressing training
needs of officers assigned to the unit, as well as maintenance of the department
bicycles and applicable equipment.
• Maintains the Community Officer calendar with upcoming events, making
adjustments as necessary and informing Road Patrol Supervision of information,
which may affect daily operations or running orders.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the Director or Commander.

• Responsible for updating, revising, distribution and maintaining the Monroe Public
Safety Department policies and procedures.
• Shall serve as the MACP Accreditation Manager for the continuance of the Monroe
Police Department accreditation process.
readiness for continued accreditation.
• Maintains resources and receives updated training concerning police standards
and best practices, as it pertains to accreditation.
• Recommends and administers departmental training, as it pertains to new policies
and procedures.
• Communicates with Command Staff for input and items needed for the
maintenance of accreditation (proofs).
• Received and responds to all service requests, which are generated through the
City of Monroe / Monroe on the Go (City Sourced) website. Determines the best
course of action and delegates to the correct division for correction or resolution.
